Venice International Photographic Competition
VIPC 2006
Edwin was invited again to join the prestigious panel of judge’s in the second esteemed Venice International Photographic Competition in November 2006. Eleven themes were judged and critiqued under the strict rules of the Photographic Society of America.

- Photojournalism. This coffee-table book features the very best photographers in their field.
Available in all good bookshops, this book features Edwin's photography of Great White Sharks.

In conjunction with Federico Poggi and Emanuele Tozzato, a portfolio of Edwin's work will be exhibited around the world.

Venice International Photographic Contest
Edwin was invited to join this renowned panel of judges alongside Marco Pinna, National Geographic at the 1st annual VIPC.
This prestigious photographic contest was awarded recognition from the PSA and was run according to their rules and guidelines. It covered 11 themes, with a strong focus on marine and wildlife photography.
X Ray Magazine
In Spring 2005, Edwin was appointed Associate Editor of X Ray magazine which has a worldwide readership of over 160' 000. X Ray magazine covers in-depth subjects including shark behaviour, ship wrecks, special editions including dive locations and sights across the globe, and industy profiles.

“day in the life” whilst diving on location with Great White Sharks, also in the article Edwin talks about the equipment he uses to get the shots he wants.
Hasselblad Austrian Super Circuit
Edwin was awarded Gold and Silver medals in the prestigious 2004 Hasselblad 13th Classic Austrian Super Circuit for his two striking images of Great White Sharks. This image also received PSA Special Recognition from a strongly contested field of entrants.

International Photo Art
In the 2003 International Photo Art Competition, Edwin's Great White Shark image received a Highly Commended placement by Rodger Maile.
Sport Diver / Project Aware 2003
Edwin was placed second in the film/professional section in the recent PADI Sport Diver photographic competition, with a black and white image of a Great White Shark swimming vertically through a water column. At a defining moment in his life, Edwin shot this image in July 2002 whilst on assignment in South Africa.
A New Perspective
Edwin's career broke new ground when on 25th July 2002, he became one of the first people in the world to photograph Great White Sharks from the sea floor in South African waters. For 36 minutes, he was privileged to dive and interact with three Great White Sharks measuring up to five metres in length. This allowed him to see the Great White from a new perspective - the resulting unique photograph reflects this extraordinary new vantage point.
