Accomplishments

Technical Background

At the start of his career, Edwin completed two years of Technical Photographic studies. He is also a PADI Divemaster, nitrox certified, and has completed a Shark behavioural programme in South Africa.

Publications

Book Launch in October 2006. 

“The World's Top Photographers - Photojournalism”

Edwin's life and work has profiled in Andy Steel's book
"The World's Top Photographers - Photojournalism".  In this book, his work and images of Great White Sharks were published alongside the very best in the photographic field.

13th Hasselblad Coffee Table Book

Two images of my work featured in a limited special edition of the 13th Hasselblad Coffee Table Book.

His work and life has also been profiled in the London Jewish News, and biographical profiles have been published in The Jewish Chronicle.

For X-Ray magazine, Edwin was appointed Associate Editor in the spring of 2005 which a worldwide readership of over 160 000. Writing a regular column entitled Sharktales and also providing articles from travel to technical matters, you can read his work covering these topics.

Appointed to the Judging Panel 2005, 2006

In 2005 Edwin was invited to join the prestigious judging panel in the
inorgrial Venice International Photographic Competetion. Alongside his colleagues
from Natianal Geographic, eleven themes were critiqued under the strict rules
and guidelines from the Photographic Society of America.

Venice International Photographic Competition 2006

In the second competition in November 2006 Edwin was once again invited to join this prestigious panel of judges where with his colleagues, he critiqued images for VIPC under the strict rules of the Photographic Society of America.

Competitions and Exhibitions

From late summer 2005, Edwin's work has been exhibited in international exhibition venues which include:

• Venice 1-2 October '05 at the Ca'Zenobia Palace.

• Venice 3-9 October '05 at the Casanova Club.

• Cairo, 4-10 '05.

• Las Vegas and Los Angeles in 2006.

13th Classic Hasselblad

In the world-renowned 2004 13th Classic Hasselblad Austrian Super Circuit, Edwin was awarded Gold and Silver medals for his two striking images of Great White Sharks. In this competition, his work was also recognised by the PSA and given Special Recognition. This was followed by an international exhibition in the following cities:

• Linz, Austria.

• Shanghai and Hangzhu, China.

• Qatar at the 2005 Doha Cultural Festival. 

Sport Diver 2003

Edwin was runner up in the 2003 Sport Diver / PADI photographic competition. His striking black and white image of a Great White Shark swimming vertically through a water column caught the judge's eye from a strong field of professional entrants. 

International Photo Art

In the 2003 International Photo Art competition, his work was recognised and highly commended for an image of a Great White Shark swimming directly in his path, and another image of a Cheetah in stalking, predatory behaviour was placed in the top twenty from one thousand entrants.

Edwin's work was also presented in the Festival Mondial de 1'Image Sous-Marine, Antibes 2003 and featured in the Tenth International Festival of Underwater Photography and Film - Image 2001 in exhibitions in London and Birmingham.

Advertising Features

Ocean Optics

Steve Warren of the legendry camera and dive store Ocean Optics and Mavericks Diving, commissioned Edwin to shoot an advertising piece to promote snorkelling and scuba diving for families. This advertising campaign can now be seen in the UK.

A. P. Valves

Renowned diving equipment manufactures AP Valves, commissioned Edwin to photograph their equipment on location in South Africa. The results were this stunning image of a White Shark and a diver using an AP Valves BCD which has featured in numerous advertisements.

Professional Associates

Edwin has worked alongside:

Steve Warren of Ocean Optics, the largest Subal dealership in the World.

Andre Hartman of Marine Dynamics . Whilst Edwin was working for Andre who had been commissioned by a National Geographic film crew to bring his expertise to a documentary on White Sharks, he was seconded to the National Geographic crew to assist in the filming of this documentary.

Tom Campbell - Edwin's role in assisting and supporting Tom has been varied and challenging, from providing logistical support to cameraman's assistant.
